About:
.: Dr Susan Holec-Iwasko, D.O.
Dr. Holec graduated with honors from the University of Arizona with a BS in Microbiology and minors in both chemistry and math. She received a scholarship to a choice of medical schools. She selected a medical school where osteopathic medicine originated from (Kirksville College of Medicine). She believed the holistic approach to mind, body and spirit function was superior to the traditional medicine model. She also received extra training in osteopathic manipulative therapies which later she combined with energy based healing techniques. She completed her Internship and Family Practice residency in one of the more rigorous training programs in Michigan (Detroit Osteopathic and BiCounty Hospitals, part of the Michigan State University Consortium) where she trained in both D.O. and M.D. hospitals. She and her husband, Terry Iwasko, an Internal Medicine physician, moved to Indianapolis in 1992. She began solo practice to find a better way to treat patients without the mandatory one problem per patient visit model utilized by traditional hospital employed practices. She feels it is absolutely necessary to hear the persons whole story to better understand/discover root causes of disease.
Her personal journey to find a better way to help others expanded when she developed severe fatigue and tremors associated with a pesticide toxicity through her by her joy of gardening. Traditional medicine fell short in discovering the root cause of her symptoms. It was through learning about how specialized testing and treatments available at state of the art research centers that gave her the tools to heal herself as well as others.
